[Revenue Share] [Contract] Hyperion: Sci-Fi FPS

$

Hello,

I'm Matt and I am the creative director at Subject Matter Games (Subject Matter Games). We are currently beginning pre-production on a new project codenamed 'Hyperion' and are seeking 2-3 artists to help drive and produce the art style and assets found in the final game.

What is Hyperion?
Without going into too much detail, the project will be a single-player first-person shooter set on a fictional space station. Hyperion is being developed using the Unity engine.

Who Are We Looking For?
We need 2-3 talented artists that can concept and (ideally) model 3D objects and/or environments. Here is our planned art creation pipeline:

1) Produce a concept sketch of the object/environment (Somewhat optional)
2) Create the object in object modeling software (we use Blender but you can use what you've got that can export OBJ or FBX)
1. Optionally, add base textures
3) Finish textures and materials in Substance Painter/Designer
4) Import and use within Unity

You would be responsible for steps 1-2 and hopefully 3. We realize the Substance tools are newer and we are learning them as well. We are willing to work on the details of this pipeline but this is the one we've been using for our current pre-production demos.

When Do I Get Paid?
If you would like to join the team, payment will be based on the amount of work done, payable after the product ships.

If you would prefer a 'contract' position, please provide your rates in your email. Note: As an indie team, we can only support up to one contract position and only for a small period of time.

Full credit will be provided in the game and team members will be listed on the company website.

Contact Us!
If interested in helping bring this vision to life, you can contact me by email:

submattermatt [AT] submattergames.com

Please provide a sample of your work.

Miscellaneous Stuff

Other Art Tools We Use
Other tools we use include Mixamo Fuse and Photoshop CC. Considering we're still in pre-production, we are still investigating the possibility of other ways to develop our art, such as using Microsoft Kinect's for motion capture.

What is the Setting?
Imagine an elongated vertical diamond shaped space station the size of a small moon, where humans live without contact from Earth. Where the entire shell of the station is triple reinforced transparent plastic poly blend, revealing massive rooms of artificial forests, layer after layer of living quarters, and layers of mechanical machinery and data stores. Imagine a happy afternoon in a park where the birds are holographic and the sky is a perfectly painted blue (because it is) with the emptiness of space only a few feet away.

Now imagine an invasion; an unexpected, unprovoked, and ruthless attack from an alien species on this isolated station...

Why Single-Player?
Developing the game as a single-player only product allows us to focus on several key areas: story, gameplay, and art. It is our belief that focusing on these key essentials and giving them each enough development time will produce a great result.

Who is Subject Matter Games?

Subject Matter Games is an indie game development company started earlier in 2014 with one goal: create the games the team wants to play.

Recently, Subject Matter published 'Don't Be Dinner' to the Windows 8 store, an interactive fiction where the player is given 2 choices in the story which determines one of 45 possible endings. Though the game has a small amount of downloads, it was developed by 1 developer with 1 voice artist and averages a 4/5 based on 5 reviews.

Don't Be Dinner was intended as a 'starter' project, a tech demo that became a released title. With this project, the scope and intent is much larger. We know we can do this, and we want you to be a part of it.

[Royalty] Programmer looking for UE4 artist for small do-able game

$

I'm a programmer / developer working on a small commercial game that I plan to release, and I need an enthusiastic and reliable artist to handle the art and collaborate on gameplay.

The game is a skill-based futuristic sports game, similar to soccer, with a strong story-line and plot. The story will be humorous and the game doesn't take itself too seriously. It's a fun, easy-to-learn but hard-to-master game.

I've chosen to go with UE4, and at this stage the art and design are wide open. I know first-hand how important it is to work on things you enjoy, so there is a lot of creative freedom. Steampunk, mech, fish, zombie, I'm happy to discuss whatever works for the game and for you.

In terms of the assets required, and trying to keep it simple, a single arena with 2-3 different player characters is the minimum viable product. You'll also be doing the animating and UI art. Rather than the arena being a simple rectangle, extra obstacles to spice things up would be a bonus.

Here's a video of the current movement mechanics. It's designed for PC and tablet at this stage:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?featur...&v=yX0pMHQ6gAQ

My last game was strongly story and puzzle driven (3DTextAdventure Windows game - Indie DB), and I hope to retain the same sense of fun and story in this one.

Ideally this would suit someone looking for a portfolio piece, and the more experience you have had the better. It will be a straight 50/50 royalty split.

Netstorm style game play to get reboot with kickstarter

A team that original started out as working on a fan tribute of the old RTS and was working in the Unity3D engine for 3 years implement features from the old game and models that matched the old 2D art from the original game but they stopped the project and had to switch to using a new self developed IP and game world

But the team has relaunched and is working on a new game under a strictly new IP and game world and is now getting assistance from the original designers and developers that worked on the first games.

The fan team has launched storm isle productions studios which is working on the new game called "Disciples of the storm" and are teams up with the talent of Morgan Ogburn and Beverly Garland who are assisting the team on setting the new art and direction of the world..

The team while working on the project for the past three years was mainly doing the project as strictly volunteer work as passionate fans but in launching development of Disciples Of The Storm the team has launched a kickstarter to help raise the need funds to allow the team to spend focused time on shape the new world and gameplay and put dedicated time in..

The team has rasied 12,756 on their kickstarter but with only 8 days left on the kickstarter the team needs help to raise the last amount to reach their 50k goal for full development.

The kickstarter can be seen here

Burning Roads - Card-based rogue-like looking for Artist!

$

Hi, I'm Martin from Sharkbomb Studios and I'm currently looking for a collaborating, co-conspiring artist to join me on a larger game project. Check the link for a detailed look at the project:

**Project Basics**

The game is currently in the early development phase and planned for release in very late 2015 on as many platforms as possible. It is designed to be a commercial game but there currently is no budget so this would be a partnership with payment only if there is funding or sales at a later date. On the upside: This also means that there is ample opportunity to help shape the project. I am currently working by myself, part-time, shaping the core gameplay mechanics.

The game itself is a roguelike with a card-game-like conflict resolution system. That's quite a mouthful, but what it means is that the game world is generated at random each time you start a new game. Play features permadeath: Characters that die are lost - you can not load previous save games. While one playthrough is pretty short (maybe 1-3 hours), the game is not over after one game, because it is difficult and also invites exploration. Players can also unlock new content for the game through multiple runs.

The current setting idea is a post-apocalyptic science-fiction world (without zombies). The player has to build, grow and lead a convoy to safety across a hostile planet. Here a lot of input is possible and desired. I'd love to build and detail this world in collaboration with the artist.

**What I am looking for**

And as said, I'm currently looking for an artist to help out. That means someone to help develop the art-style and create concept art during the early phases and then to create actual game assets later during production. To make the small team-size work it would be essential that the style makes asset creation relatively quick. So think less hyperrealistic 3d and about a more abstract style: pixel-graphics, vector style, low-poly modelling. That kind of thing.

Some experience with game development is a must. You should be technically versed and able to create game-assets that work in the game. Familiarity with the Unity Engine is a plus. Additionally it would be great if you live in Germany, prefereably Southern Germany. If that's not the case, living in a nearby time zone would be preferable.

**What I can offer**

A creative and collaborative development process: I want you to be part of the development and provide input on all facets of the game. I am a dedicated developer, willing to go full-time during certain phases of the project. I'm also willing to invest some of my own money intp this. I have over 10 years of experience making games and I'm well-connected in the German game development scene.

Additionally I want to offer you a fair cut of the sales revenue, based on your time investment.

Looking for Game Artists

We search some designers for an amazing mobile/console game. We want to build the whole game with the community from gamers for gamers. The unique part of it is that every designer make only a part of the design from the game, so we can put all parts together and have a complete new experience.

We have allready some different designers and if you are too interested, I could send you more informations about the part that you could design.

This job is unpaid but you get all the credits and we show the prototype to a big publisher were we are in a partnership. Of course you will get a little piece of the profit for your commitment. You could design in that style that you like most and also make your own ideas, the only guidelines are that the gameplay is given and that the graphics must be in a sideview like super mario land, rayman etc. (typical gameboy jump n runs sideview)

we are excited if you want to join the team!?
