Vatal Entertainment Studio is seeking talented individuals to contribute to our video game project, Infinities: The Chaos Paradox.
What is Infinities: The Chaos Paradox?
Infinities: The Chaos Paradox is a currently non-funded independent video game project and labor of love for a small group of people who share a passion for quality gaming. This is a single-player sci-fi+fantasy roleplaying game that will send you across space and time to restore order to an endangered universe.
In The Chaos Paradox, players will have access to a small, but diverse cast of characters who are thrust into the center of a world-breaking crisis. The characters are split into two versions of themselves, each with different bodies, goals, and powers. It will be up to them to solve the paradox of their own existences and prevent a machine-god from deleting reality itself in a spiraling-out of error correction. The main narrative and mechanical force at work is branching decision points which can alter the course of events in the game and influence the development of characters. By using a unique Timeline mechanic, players will be able to rewrite their stories by following alternate decision paths, leading to customization and replayability.
The art style for The Chaos Paradox will be familiar to fans of games like Bastion, Chrono Cross, and other PSX-era RPGs, utilizing detailed 2D sprites on prerendered backgrounds. The futuristic world of Xilsen and the vibrant, living world of Obdija will be presented in ways meant to inspire immersion and enjoyment. Combat effects will cover the gamut of mundane weapons to epic magic to unreal technology, meaning a visual feast for our players.
Who is VATAL?
We are a small, but growing group of people looking to build an entertaining game that forges new territory using classic techniques. Collaboration is all done remotely via forum, Skype, and Google Drive. We are fairly informal in decorum and love to share a good laugh. Feel free to peruse our blog at http://www.vatales.com/blog to learn more about us and the design philosophies behind some of our more prominent elements!
Whats In It For You?
We will be using a dynamic revenue sharing plan which divides the project into teams with a concrete portion of all funds and profits earned. These portions are split between members of each team according to responsibilities, time spent, and merit. As there is no money available yet, all current contributions are on a volunteer basis until we are funded and/or sales of the game begin. Our plans are to launch a Kickstarter campaign next year when there is enough developed to justify buy-in from fans and investors.
While positions at VATAL may be listed for specific tasks, we always appreciate when someone can contribute to multiple areas of the project, including design, story, and community. We want you to join us and create an environment that allows you to leave your footprint on the Infinities world in as many ways that can emphasize your particular skills and interests. All we ask for now is a dedication of ~5 hours per week of your time. In return, we promise to maintain an open, collaborative environment where your creativity and craftsmanship can shine.
