Stylized 2D/3D Artist looking for work!

Free 3 Year License of Your Favorite 3D Suite (And More)

Hey Guys!

I just wanted to share this real quick. Not sure how I stumbled upon it myself, in any case, evidently, Autodesk is currently giving free 3 Year Student Licenses to (from what I saw) all of their software.

I just registered on the site, put down my school name, used my regular email and they sent me the registration info for the 3 Year license to Maya 2015. Not sure which version it is, and whether it is limited, but a Free 3 Year license sure sounds good to me. I just wanted to share it with you guys so that you can take advantage of this.

Also, like I mentioned previously, when I registered for an account, I used my regular Gmail email address, not my school provided .edu email, nor did they ask me for my student ID number or anything else really. (hint hint)

You can find any information, and the actual downloads on this page:

Free Student Software Downloads | Autodesk Education Community

I have seen 3ds Max, 3ds Max Design, Autocad, and a whole bunch of other software that seems to be available. Everyone should take advantage of this, you can't pass up a free 3 year license.

Cheers.

[PROFIT SHARE] Looking for PIXEL ARTIST for Pokemon-ish game on IOS, Android, WP

Hi,

We are looking for a pixelartist who wants to join us in our mobile game project.
You should have competent pixel art and general insight of the aspect of game developing

---Who are we?---

At this moment our team exists of 2 programmers and 1 designer

1 lives in USA, Connecticut and 2 of us live in the Netherlands, we all can communicate in English easily.
Each of us spend about 10 to 25 hours a week on our game, and because of this there is a lot of progress being made.

Most of our communication goes through Skype

---The game---

Our mobile app is made with the Corona SDK and will be available for at least iOS and Android devices,
later on (when Corona adds support for Windows Phone) it automatically extends to Windows Phone

Our game is a RPG, inspired by Pokemon. It uses the same game techniques
(For example we use the traditional 4-way movement, grid bases map etc.), also its design is the same 16 bit style.
But we don’t want to make a pokemon clone, we want to differentiate us by
developing innovating new gameplay elements and improve the existing gameplay elements.

http://j.nope.me/Qmo0K.png
http://j.nope.me/pcDDt.png

Above you see a screenshot of the style of our game
The worldmaps are being made in the Tile Editor: Tiled. In this program we also add objects to place dynamic objects like NPC’s, Teleports, or puzzle objects.
We are working on this game for some time now and a lot of it is already documented
and a lot is already programmed. (email us for a demo if you have serious interest)

---What will you be doing?---

In general, you will be helping us design this game. You will be focusing on making monsters sprites
(other designer focusses on terrain/world and characters), but you will definitly be involved in stuff like interface and other game elements too!

Communication is very important in our team as well as working on this project with passion to make this a success.
You will be involved with all aspects in this project.
You can come with your own ideas or discuss ours. We want to make this game a product of all of us.

The game will eventually be sold in the appstores.
We are thinking about a price between $1 or $2 but it will be discussed later on.

We expect you to commit yourself to this project and our partnership.

As you will be a full project member you get the same amount of the profits, the profits will be split evenly over all of us.

---Interested?---

Are you our 4th project member? Or do you have any questions?
Mail me at pouwelsjochem@gmail.com and maybe you could already show us some work you made.

Kind regards,

Jochem Pouwels

Please post links to relevant work that you have in your portfolio as well as an approximate/average price/time to complete for that specific work, so that I can get a sense of your pricing.

Hello everybody!
We are Genesis Game Studios, an indie game dev startup from Greece, and currently our goal is creating mobile games to beef up our portfolio.

We have released HexCraft (HexCraft | Windows Phone Store για εφαρμογές και παιχνίδια (Ελλάδα)), which got featured in over 50 countries on Windows Phone store and this month we will release Snake Planet, which you can see here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x5PdRVCUow8

We were also awarded by Microsoft Imagine Cup 2014 at Games Competition, where we made it to the worldwide finals, reaching top 10 of the world.

I am posting here just in case there is an Artist interested in joining either as freelancer or as an art student trying to beef up his portfolio. We do not offer money up front, but we offer networking / promotion of your work with Microsoft and experience in a team of developers, and of course revenue split on any released games!

Our plan is small mobile games throughout the year (2-3 months each project) and we split revenue after game is launched. We are currently looking for a 2D Artist who is, as mentioned above, either interested in working with us remotely as a freelancer or an art student who wants to build up a portfolio.

If interested, send us an email at genesisgamestudios@outlook.com . Thank you very much! :)

2D Artist - Concept & Texture

Hi,

My name is Jake and I'm the lead on a Virtual Reality project called Private Eye. The game is a neo-noir thriller set in 1950s New York where you play a disabled detective (bound to a wheelchair). You must spy on your neighbours and retread your past to unlock the mysteries in the game. Here's a trailer to get an idea:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=03oGL9J7knE

We are an independent company based in Brighton, UK that have worked pretty tirelessly to get the project up to nearly Kickstarter ready status. We have a WIP demo that you can download and play from our site (if you have an Oculus Rift!) We are finishing up this demo to launch alongside our Kickstarter campaign. We are looking for a passionate and talented 2D artist that will work with us in creating concept art and game texturing to put the finishing touches before the KS goes live. If the KS is successful (fingers and toes!) we would then like to continue working with you and offer a fulltime position.

We are looking for someone that has an eye for detail and the versatility to create textures for many different assets. The game will be built around environmental storytelling and a lot of the story will be delivered through items you find so the textures will be of great importance (rather than decorative). Think along the lines of 'Gone Home'. The game is a detective thriller so there will be lots of letters, diary entries, old photographs etc. The general aesthetic of the game is noir but has an atmosphere for a modern day thriller film.

What you'll having fun with creating:
- Environmental concept art for the Kickstarter that shows off some of the environments that will be in the full game.
- Key-Assets textures that keep true and accurate to the source and time period
- Helping out with more generalised game art
- Inputting your own ideas, researching and general input to how we can tell the story through assets
- Some technical knowledge on asset workflow (UV mapping, normal mapping) to work with 3D artists and aid them in creating the final assets

If you like the sound of this project and think you could share your passion with us we would love to hear from you and see some of your work. We are looking for someone to become fully integrated with the team and to feel passionate about making Private Eye. We are looking for passion and enthusiasm over 'AAA' quality but all applicants welcome!

Thanks for reading and checking us out, if you're interested please fire me an email at jslack.mail@gmail.com telling a little bit about yourself and a link to your portfolio.

[Profit Share] looking for 2D Artists for a Simulation Game for Windows and Mac

$

Hey guys,

I am looking for a 2D Graphics artist to create graphics for a simulation game for windows and Mac. I am using Xojo so cross platform development is fairly easy. Xojo has reasonable price tag as well.

----The Game----
So the game is 2D racing management game. If you are american you will know stock car it is based on that form of racing. You are a crew chief you go from lower tier racing to race in the big cup (Not sure what I will be naming them as I do not have a license from nascar and I don't expect to atleast not until after the game is released). You will do a trial then based on the trial you will get contracted to a team in one of the lower levels (Be equivalent to the Nascar Truck series) and you will guide your driver for that season to the goal the team owner gives you. All drivers will be unique and some drivers will like you others won't and based on your skills as a crew chief you will get better contracts with better teams. If a driver likes you he will try and get you to go with him if he gets a contract with a new team.

----What you will be doing?----
You will be creating the graphics for menu screens buttons and the race screens as well as the race tracks. You will work closely with me and can have a major influence on the game project as my design is a rough design of how it will work.

We will be needing to talk on a daily to every second day basis on what we are doing where the game project is going etc. You will be an equal partner in this with me as I think being equal on a project like this is a great opportunity for artist and a programmer to work together. The game will be sold from our site as well as in steam if we can get steam greenlit.

You will need to be able to speak/type in english well and will be happy for a profit share of 40% each and 20% to the company for future projects. If you are happy to work on future projects after this one it will be awesome because we will make awesome games together. If you only want to do one project that is fine as well.

----Now About Me :)----
My name is Wayne Rayner and I am from Australia I have been on and off programming for 5 years but have not tried to make a game yet. I am now interested to try and make a game and possibly a lot of games in the future if I can find a reliable partner. I am only 21 if that makes any difference and I am happy to work with anyone and everyone as long as they are happy to work with me.

----Interetsed?----
Are you willing to be my equal partner we will be creating and running a indie game studio together. The first game will be my idea and if you have a game idea your idea will be the next one we make together if you are wanting to more projects together after the first project.

If you are interested email me at wayne_312@live.com

Regards

Wayne Rayner

Sprite DLight brings dynamic lighting for 2D sprites with 1-click normal maps

$

Hey everyone,

I would like to introduce the tool for artists and game developers I am currently running a pretty successful Kickstarter campaign for:
Sprite DLight on Kickstarter

"Ghost Pizza", ©2014 AlbertoV from DYA Games, normal map and dynamic lighting preview of Sprite DLight

The project is already more than 300% funded and it is currently approaching the third stretch goal.
Stretch goal #1 and #2 are already reached: A dynamic lighting preview window and a Mac version.

The main use of Sprite DLight is the generation of normal maps from 2D sprites in one click, which allows for quick and atmospheric dynamic lighting effects in 2D games:

This way, you could create a game featuring dynamic lighting on pixel art characters and objects, simply by processing the existing game art and using the normal maps in combination with a shader.
This is a preview of a pixel art sprite sheet with dynamic lighting via instant normal maps of Sprite DLight:

"Selen Run Animation" from the game "Timespinner", ©2014 Lunar Ray Games, animated dynamic lighting preview of the sprite sheet in Sprite DLight

There are 14 days left for the campaign to reach the two remaining stretch goals, two weeks to pre-order Sprite DLight at the Kickstarter backer price and to get in on the backer beta (planned to start around mid-December).
The tool is also on Steam Greenlight here!
Any support and feedback is highly appreciated.
